Beckett Announces Major Site Overhaul

April 29th, 2008

Feeling the pressure of sites like NAXCOM and facing a perception that card collecting doesn’t have a place in today’s day and age, Beckett is finally attempting to bring the cards and collectibles industry into the 21st century with a major site redesign. Let’s face it: all collectors use Beckett in some fashion - forums, price guides, marketplace, articles, etc - and their site has been in dire need of an overhaul for a while now.

New Beckett.com

The really notable improvements in my opinion are: better organization of their content (forums, videos, and blogs), new collecting software that integrates seamlessly with their new online price guides, and social shopping features tied into the marketplace….oh, and a modernized and simplified re-design (can’t overemphasize the importance of design). Full details can be seen on the tour on their site. No official date has been announced, but reading between the lines on their blog it looks like it could be within the next few weeks. I’m not the biggest Beckett fan in the world, but if this delivers what it promises it will change the industry for the better.

Oh, and Tuff Stuff - good luck copying Beckett’s site like you copied their new price guide. Your lack of tech savvy will undoubtedly lead to your thinking that this is “no big deal”. Make no mistake: it is, and it may just be the final nail in your coffin.
