The 5 Worst McFarlane’s Ever Made

Every once in a while I’ll reference a certain someone (we’ll hold off for now) that is in my opinion the worst McFarlane figure ever made. “Worst” to me is a combination of things - he isn’t marketable, he’s had a crappy career, and he has no potential for either of those things to improve (which is why Brady Quinn is not on this list…yet). I also left off legacy type players that had undeserving figures made at the end of great careers (like Roberto Alomar on the Mets). I actually started with a “top 10″ list, but couldn’t find 10 really bad McFarlane’s, so I reduced the list to 5 - a testament to the Spawn team and just how good they are at picking figures:
#5 Kwame Brown NBA 2
Right from the beginning he seemed like a bust. I know McFarlane was going on potential back then, but it backfired completely. And has their ever been a less-marketable #1 overall pick in the history of sports? Mario Williams looks like LeBron James compared to Kwame and his mediocre NBA career.

#4 Dajaun Wagner NBA 4
After a solid rookie season, Wagner looked to be the running mate for LeBron when James joined the Cavs a year later. However, he followed that rookie campaign up with a 4.0 PPG season and fell ill due to a serious case of ulcerative colitis. He was never really that marketable and he’ll probably never make it back to the NBA, and for that reason Spawn made a mistake.

#3 Chris Weinke NFL 3
Sure he won the Heisman, but so did Andre Ware. Since he entered the league in 2001 he’s started 19 games and has a career passer rating of 61.4. Not exactly SportsPicks material.

#2 William Thomas NFL 15
The only recent figure on this list, the artist formerly known as “Tra Thomas” has had a solid career, but guys like Orlando Pace and Walter Jones are far, far more deserving.

#1 James Jackson NFL 3
This former Miami “star” will always be number one in my heart. Just what the folks at Spawn were thinking is anyone’s guess, but Jackson’s best season (by far) consisted of 554 yards and 2 touchdowns. For his 5 year career (which is now done with) he tallied just over 1,000 yards and 5 touchdowns. Not even close to deserving of a SportsPick.

I remember when the Weinke figure came out and I asked why? Everything I read said he would never make an impact.
