Latest Gretzky McFarlane is Overkill
May 29th, 2007I know that Wayne Gretzky collectibles still probably sell better than anyone else in the game (with the exception of Crosby maybe) and that he’s Todd’s buddy out there in Phoenix, but McFarlane has taken it a bit too far with their latest installment - a St. Louis Blues figure, Gretzky’s NINTH McFarlane by my count (even though it says Gretzky 5 he’s had 12 inch figures and Team Canada figures on top of his legends figures).

Gretzky played all of 31 games with the Blues in 1996 before bolting to New York. That Blues team lost in the second round of the playoffs on a turnover by the “great one” that led to Steve Yzerman’s famous Game 7 second-overtime goal (video below).
I doubt Blues fans will be rushing to the stores to pick up this figure to commemorate that historical moment.

Wow, thanks for the great video. My favorite goal ever. One of the greatest moments in Red Wings history. The only bad thing was the celebration in the end. Yzerman ended up getting hurt after everyone piled on top of him.

Glad you liked it. I’m a Red Wing fan myself, so I’m always looking for ways to tie great Red Wing history into posts
